Hi everyone. It's Greg, and I've got anothervideo for you today. This one's going to be, how to create a simple one-pagewebsite for your business. Now, you can dothis for personal, but most of the times, I'm asked the question of howto make a simple business website. 

A lot of the tutorialsthat I put together on how to make a big robust website witha bunch of different pages. But a lot of you have been askingfor just a simple one-page website for your business, something you can build todayand have it up by tomorrow. Maybe, even the end of day today, your business will have awebsite on the Internet. 

So, in this tutorial, I'm gonnatry to keep it under 10 minutes and walk you through, start to finish, on how to create asimple, good-looking, and effective one-pagewebsite for your business. And if you stay aroundto the end of this video, I'm going to show you onestep that so many people skip, that if your local business is crucialfor your website to show up on Google, to show up on Yahoo, to show up in all these places. It's built right into thewebsite builder we're gonna use, but not manypeople know about it. 

So at the end, I'm going to show you exactlyhow to do that in a few clicks. So without further ado, let'sjump right in the computer here, and I'll show you what the endproduct's going to look like. So, here's an example of a sitethat I just built that i'm gonna walk youthrough how to make, and this is for aphotography business, but as you can see, it's just nice and clean, and if you have something differentthan a photography business, you can just swap out the lingo,the literature, the business name, so, it fits your business. But all this is going to do is, make your business look cleanon the internet, up-to-date, and give people theinformation that they need when they're coming to theInternet to look at your business. 

So, you're gonna have thisnice clean landing page telling people the name of yourcompany and what you offer, and what's nice is, we havebuttons throughout here. So, if someone scrolls down, or if they just click these buttons, it takes them to the next section. So, it's very user friendly. 

So, this is good for people whoare maybe new to the internet, or they don't use the internet a lot, so, this makes it very simplefor them to navigate, but it's going to give themthe core things they need, so, it shows them what you do,tells them about your business, maybe, shows a photo right here,shows them what you offer, or what your business does, and then, examples of your work. So, it shows how good your work is, and then, how to contactyou to actually book it. 

This is going to be all the basicsyou need for a business website, and the best part is,it's optimized for mobile as well. So, so many people are on their phonesnowadays looking up businesses, and this will be perfectfor phones as well.

So, it'll be optimizedand look good on there. So, this is what we're going tomake, and if this fits the business, if this is somethingyou want stick around, because I'm gonna try tokeep this under 10 minutes and show you exactly how I built this. Once we're on the site, we're on Wix, all we have to do is hit 'start now' or you can come downand hit 'get started.' Either of them goes to the same place. So, it's just gonna askyou to log in or sign up. 

So, if you don't have anaccount already, you'll just hit sign up right here,super simple. You just set your passwordand basically, that's it, and then, you'll hit 'login.' Now, if you don't have any sites onWix, this is a brand new account. It'll prompt you with a big buttonthat says, create your first site, but if you alreadyhave websites on here that you've been playingaround with or created then, all you have to do is hit'create new site' over here, and then it's just gonna ask whatkind of site we want to create. So, we're gonna hit 'business'just in the corner here, and then, we'll hit'choose a template,' which is on the right side here, and just as a side note, 

I have a really lengthy Wix tutorialthat goes over everything about Wix. So, if I skip over something like, why we're not usingthe Wix ADI over here, that's in the longer tutorial, but I'm just tryingto cut to the chase, so, you guys can see how to do thisquickly and make your site today. So, we'll do' choose atemplate' over here, and then, we're going tocome up to 'blank templates.' What we're gonna do here is,go to the one page layout. You can just hit'edit here' with me, and this takes a second to load here, but once this loads, we'regonna have our template that we can fully customize. It'll take us a couple ofminutes to put it together, and then, we'll have oursite ready to go. So, this is the templatethat we're going to use, and it basically coversthis one page here. We're just gonna customize it a bit, and I'm going to show you howto optimize this a little bit, but all these thingsare just ready to go. So, we'll just double click up here, and we'll put in thename of the company. For this, I'm gonnause 'A+ photography, and then, we can put in what we do.This is kind of like a catchphrase. So, if you have like a short,not really an elevator pitch, but some kind of tagline thatyou use, put it up top here, and then, you can put alonger description down here. I like to put something that'skind of clever and catchy, but also says what you do. So, as you saw in theother example here, I did 'capturing life's best moments.' If it's a photographycompany, that makes sense. So, find Something that makessense for your business. You might already have this, or you might have to think of somekind of slogan to put up top here. But I'm just going to put in'capturing life's best moments,' and then, you'll fill in down here. They give you kindof three lines here, which I think is toomuch text to put here. So, what I would recommend isanother two lines here at the most. As you can see in our other example, there's only two lines here,and it just asks a question, and then, puts an answer, kindof justifying our business, why leave your bestmoments only once? We capture your best moments, so, youcan relive them forever and ever. Just something short, and somethingthat's not a full paragraph that people have to read. So, I'm just going tocopy this right here, and I'm just going topaste that right in here. And if you have any formattingissues or anything like this, you can just selectall this, edit text, and then, you can play withthe settings over here. So, I'm just going tomove that back to center, and I'll move it, and then,I'll make it back white. So, just like that, and then,this is a button right here, and it's actually going tolink to the first anchor, and the firstanchor is the 'About section.' 

So, I'm just goingto double click this and change the nameof this to 'about,' or you can changeit to 'learn more,' anything that makes sense to leadpeople to the 'about section' here. I would recommend goingwith 'learn more,' because that's somethingthat's commonly used and easy for someone to click on, and it'll bring them right to the'about section,' that's right here. Now, in your 'About section,' you can just leaveit as 'about,' and then, you can justcustomize what you have here. You can be a littlebit more lengthy here. You can tell the backgroundstory of your company, and we'll go over to my example justto see what I wrote on this one, just so, you can get an idea. I've made a lot of businesswebsites online in the past, and I actually put thought into this when I was creating thisphotography website. So, the things that I wrotehere were actually intentional. I wasn't just putting a bunchof fluff to make it look good. So, you can kind of screenshot this or pause this, and you can follow that story butcustomize it to your own business. So, I think that might helpif you have your own 'about,' or your own story thatyou want to put here, you can absolutely do it, but if you need reference onwhat to write in these sections about your business, feel free to use this as a templateand customize it to your business. So, I'm just going tocopy this right here, and then I'll come over to ours,and I'll paste it in here, and again, I'm just goingto select all of this, and I'm just going to change thesettings again to center it, but you probably won'thave to do that if you're not copying andpasting from another one, and then, we have anotheranchor button right here, and this one's going tolead us to services. So, I'm going to say 'see our services.' Okay, that looks good, and then, in this section, we can add an image. So, I recommend puttingan image here. It just breaks this up, so, it's not all texts and allwhite background on your website. 

So, it makes it look good. So, we're just gonnaclick this once, and then, we'll hit 'change image,' and what I love about usingWix as the builder is, you can use 'free from Wix.' So, you can come to 'free from Wix,' and you can type in what you're looking for, and all of these images arecompletely free to use. It's a perk of building yourwebsite with Wix is that they give you all this stockphotography that you can use. Now, if you have good photosof your business already, definitely use those, but if you don't have goodimages of your business, feel free to come in here, and typein whatever you're looking for. 

So, I'm just going toput in photography, and see what comes up here, and a lot of this is not going tobe really the photography side that we're looking for. Maybe, we can use something likethis, and we'll just select that. Then we'll hit 'choose 'image,' and then, it'll auto populate itright onto our site right here. All right, that looks good. Now, I'm going to keep scrollingdown here, and services. So, this is where you caninput what your services are. So, if you have threeservices, try to fill it. If you only have two services, asyou saw in the other one here, I put photography and videography arethe two services, photo and video, but as a third thing in the middle,I put it as a selling point, professional editing, and thenI use that as an advantage, included for free with every service. So, whatever you order, whether it'sphotography or videography, you're going to get free editing, professional editing,included with all of it. So, you can use that as a perk, and that just makesthe three look good. But if you only have two things,and you can really only put two, you can delete one of these, and you can just center these two. So, in this instance,you only have two. I'll show you how to do that here. So, if you only have two,just click on these, and then hit 'backspace' or 'delete,' and you can deletethis right here, and then, we can justselect the background here. Hold 'shift,' and then, it selectsmultiple items and holds them all. So, keep holding 'shift,'and select this as well, and then, we're just going to let goof 'shift' and drag it all over here, somewhere about right there, just gonna line this line up withthe end of the button over here, and then, we'll do the same thing. Hold shift, hold shift again, and everything snaps into placeon Wix, which is awesome. So, you'll see onceyou have it lined up, Everything will be deadcenter just like that. 

So, there's our two services. And then, all we have to do here is,just fill in these little icons. So, they left them basic inthis template as like edit, so, you can edit this. All you have to do ishit 'change basic shape,' then, you can type inwhat you're looking for. So, I'm gonna type in 'camera' here, and then, it didn't comeup from 'free from Wix,' but that's fine. Let's just hit 'search everywhere.' Now, we have some more icons,and we can hit 'show all results,' and now, you have a lotmore to choose from here. So, I'm going to go withthis camera right here, and we'll just hit 'add to page,' and then, we'll do the samething for this one over here, and there's a video camera, which is perfect. And then, if you wantto change the color of these, all you have to do isjust hit 'design,' and then, hit this color right here, and you can change thatto any color you want, and then, you can just do the samething to this one over here, and likewise, for the shapesin the background. So, you can just hit thatand change the design, and then, you can hit 'customize design' and fill color, and now, you can change thisto whatever color you want. Let's just make thatorange for right now, and it'll make the otherone orange as well, and it actually saves thatdesign, which is awesome. So, once you make one of them, it says, oh! you want to dothe same over here? Perfect. It saves you a lot of time, and then, in here, just double click, and then select off that, select the title, and you can change thatto whatever you want. Photography, and we'll double clickthis one, and we'll do videography, and then, you can just type inwhatever that service is down here, and again, i'll use what Iwrote on the other one, because it's a good reference, and you can just put kind ofthe features and the benefits in this little description here. So, i'm just gonna copy this,highlight the area, paste it, and then, I'll do the samefor the video over here, and when i'm copying here, I'm just selecting all ofwhatever. 

I want to copy, and then, pressing command c,because i'm on a Mac, it just makes it really easy,or you can just right-click this, and then press copy, and then, when I come over here, I just select whereI want to paste it, and then, i'm pressing command V,and it pastes it, easy as that. So, that's just super easy to do.That's our services. We have another anchor righthere, which goes to anchor 3, and you can see where it's linking to, so, you can double check where it's actually going to, and it's going to 'work.' So, what we can do here ischange text, and we can do 'see our work,' just like that. So, when someone clicks that, it'llbring them down to this next anchor, and it just flows down. So here, we have a bunch of images. This is a gallery. This is a really good place toshow off your previous work. Instead of telling people howgood you are at, show them. This way, they candecide for themselves that you are the best choice. So, we definitely want to usethis gallery to our advantage. If you have photos,put them in here. If there's any way you can get photosof your previous work or things that you've done for otherclients, put that in here, and all you have to do is, just click it once, change images, and then, I just suggestputting nine here. That way, it's nice and organized. So, i'm going to go overto this tenth image, and I'm gonna hit 'remove,' and real quickly, i'm gonna 'X' out ofthis, and i'm gonna go to settings, and then, i'm going to remove this'show more' button at the bottom, which is right over here.We really don't need that. So again, i'm just going to clickthat once, hit 'settings,' and then, i'm going to just selectall of this, and just delete that, and then, just change that to one.It doesn't really matter. But once you delete this, andthere's no button there, that button goes away. That way, no one's gonnaclick any weird buttons. You don't need it. Let's just make it niceand easy for people. Again, we're just making thisas user friendly as possible. So, people come on,everything looks good, nice and easy for themto use, no confusion. So, we're gonna click thisonce again, change images, and this is where we're gonna putin nine images of our past work. I saw this '10th' came back here. So, i'm going to delete that again, and we're just gonna clickon each one of these, and then just hit 'replace image.' So, something tobe cautious of is, you have a title, and you havea description right here. So, when you replace the image, I'm gonna show you, forexample, with free from Wix, and feel free to use some of this. Maybe, that's not reallyethical to say, our work, and then using free Wix images. But if you need fillerimages to get started, maybe, use some of these. So, i'm just going to use somethinglike this, and then, choose image, and then, as you can see, the title and the descriptionare filled in right here. Now, what that's goingto do when we hit done. If we go to 'preview'real quick. When you scroll over it, it's going to show you yourtitle and your description. So, what I recommend doing,come back to editor, when you put in these images, just delete the title anddelete the description. What that's going to do is,when someone hovers over it, it just turns it nice and white. So, it's just a good look to it. There's no text on it oranything if they click on it. It just pops it up, andthey can see it bigger, but there's no text that youhave to make look good. It's just nice, simple and clean. So, do that for all of yours here, and then, you will havenine images through here, then, it'll look perfect. And then, we have a back to top button which will actually take youright up to the top of the page, but i'm actually goingto delete that, because the point of this is, when someone gets to the bottom ofour page, we want them to contact us. We don't want them to go allthe way back up to the top, and then, they didn't contact us. We wanted to stay at the bottom,be sold on our website, and then, contact us. So, I'm actually going tochange this 'contact' here. I'm going to drag it out of it, and i'm gonna say,contact space for quote, so, that way people knowthat they can contact us, use this form to geta quote on our services. That way, we don't have toput pricing on our website. Now, if you want to get more intricateand put bookings on your website, you can do that through Wix, andit's actually a really good feature, but it is a bit more intricate,so, I have it in other tutorials. So, if you need that, check out my Wix tutorialsplaylist on my channel, and there's a couple of videoson how to do that step-by-step. And then remember, just slide thisto the middle where it lines up, and it snaps center,and it snaps across this line here. Once you've done that,that's pretty good. You're ready to go. And then, while we'reat the bottom here, I'm just going todouble click down here, and we don't need all this'proudly created by Wix' and name of site. We're gonna delete all of that, and we're gonna put in the nameof our site at the bottom, and the year that we made it. So, this is the copyright, and you actually put the yearthat you created the website, not the current year. That way, if wehave 2017 on here, our copyright would be good,the way back to 2017 to current. So, right now of 2019. So, I'll just fill thatin, and then down here, if you have social media pages,this is a good way to connect them. So, all you have to do ishit 'set social links,' and then, right over here, you canconnect it to your Facebook page, your Twitter page, Instagrampage, if you want to do that. You don't have to do that. It's not required, butit is a good thing, and it helps to get people toyour social networks as well. So, one more thing whilewe're at the bottom here, is to click this formhere and hit 'settings,' and set the email where theform's going to submit to. So, when someone fillsout this form and says, they're interestedin your services, what email address doyou want that to go to? And then, all you have to do is, just type that email address in here, and then, wheneversomeone submits a form, it'll email you right there, andgive you their contact information, their name, and the message, so, you can give them a quote back. So, that's super simple, andobviously it goes without saying, but you should set your contactinformation here and your address. You don't have to put the addressif you're a home-based business. You can just delete that andjust put the email address, and the telephone numberon how they can reach you. You might not have a fax anymore, so, you might be able to deletethat one as well. So, we'll just scrollback up to the top here, and there's only acouple of more things. The first thing is, obviously, we want to set this background here, So, just click anywhereon this background once, and do set backgroundstrip, and do image, and again here, you can choosefrom the 'free from Wix.' So, I'm just gonna type in, actually, i'll just chooseone of these right here, and you can choosewhatever the images. Again, if you have oneof your own images, you can use that as the background. Something I do want toshow you though is, if you have a whitebackground and white text, It's really hard to read. 

So, a quick little change forthat is, you can hit 'settings, and you can change this backgroundcolor to something darker, and then, you can dropthis to about 60%, and now, you still havethat same background image, but you can read yourwhite text on it. So, let's X out of that. That's just a nice little trick, and then I'm gonna changethe color of these buttons, because I think that graykind of blends in too much, and it really doesn't pop it all. So, i'm just gonna click this,and i'm gonna hit 'design.' And what I like is, you canactually scroll through, and find these otherdesigns over here. So, I really like this one. This is what I used on the template.So, i'm just going to click that, and i'm not even going to change it. If you need to change thatcolor of the background from this yellow to something else,you can hit 'customize design,' and then right here, fill andopacity, you can change that color, but I'm gonna leave it,and again, it'll save that. So, when I come down tothis one, and I do design, I'll be able to choosethat button right there. And again, I'm just gonnakeep scrolling down and set that for all the buttons, so, they're all the same, and that's it on the buttons.No more back to top. So, that's perfect, and one littlething almost missed right here, let's just change thatto white as well. I don't want that to not make sense.Okay, that's perfect. That looks good. 

And it's gonna prompt to youif you haven't saved already, to save your site.That way, you don't lose it. So, if the internet goes down oryour browser crashes or something, it's not gone forever. So, you just hit 'save and continue,' and it'll just tell you up here. It will give you a checkmark when it is saved. So, you're good to go. And it'll save your progress. But, at any point too,you can hit 'publish,' and What I like aboutthis is, on Wix is, you can go view the site, and thecool thing is, Wix is free forever. So, you can make a free website today.I'll host it for free. It'll be free for years to come. The only catches are that you willhave this address up top here, that you won't be ableto really customize. You can customize thistail end right here, but everything else is theusername of your Wix account. It's not really what you want. It's not professional for a business, but that's what you geton a free account, Plus they put anadvertisement right here, and I think they put an advertisementat the bottom, maybe, not anymore, but you just have thisadvertisement up top, and this, you can'treally customize it. So, if you do opt into a premium plan, which I'll talk aboutin about a minute here. I'll show you how cheapit is to do that, how to make this completelyyour business website to look really professional. But if you're on the freesite, this is how it would work. 

This is it right here.As you hit the buttons, they're all linked up, and everything's ready to go, and it works perfectly. So, that's that, but I'm going to come back to ourother tab in our editor here, and I'm just gonna X out of that. I want to show you the mobile here. So, if you just click thislittle mobile over here, it shows you how itlooks like on mobile. And what I love about Wix is, it's one of the onlyplaces that I know of, where you can independently customize what it looks like on aphone and on a computer. Typically, when you changesomething on the computer view, it automatically changesit on the mobile view, and you're kind of stuck with that. So, you have to find somethingthat looks good on both. Here, you can changethings independently. So, however, I set it, or whatever I decide todelete off the mobile, it still stays on thedesktop exactly how it was. 

So, here, you can do makewhatever changes you want. You can move things around,you can make them bigger or smaller, but it should be right off the bat,just very optimized for mobile. So, you shouldn'thave to do much here, but just know that youcan if you want to, but it's always goodto look this over, before you fully publishand commit to this. So, just make sure that you dolook at mobile before that. And then as you make anychanges from this point on, just continue to publishit and save it, and when you're completely done, just hit 'publish' that one more time, and it'll instantly goright to the Internet, and all the changesyou've made will be live. So, let's come backover to the desktop view. So, as we saw on the freesite, it'll be free forever, but you're stuck withthis name up top, and then, also the littleadvertisement here. But if you click thislittle upgrade up top, You can view their plans,and we'll just do compare plans, and Wix is actually really affordable. It's one of the mostaffordable for what you get. So, you get this full custom builtweb site where you can customize it, change things on the fly ifyour phone number changes, if your service changes,if you need to add new photos, you can do that on the fly instantly. 

You can even do it from yourphone if you needed to, but it's super easy to make changes,and then it's hosted in one place. If you use a differentwebsite builder, or you hire someoneto build your website, you're gonna pay twodifferent fees. One is the builder fee, for them to actually change things, and for you to beable to customize it, and the other is the hosting fee for actually renting thespace on the Internet. What's nice about Wix is, they're both included in one. So, you pay one bill andthat includes both. Now, what this bill is, it starts at $13 a month,and this changes. it does fluctuate, dependingon how many sites you have, what season you're on, ifthey have a sale going on, but this is generally a good rate. if it's under $20,then, just go for it, because that's a really good rate, but combo is here. What I would recommend isactually the unlimited here. You don't need to go with the pro.So, I would say 'unlimited.' That's the best choice youcan go with, in my opinion. That's what I have, like 99% of my sites on, and the reason is, without goingtoo far into detail, is that, you have bandwidth and storage. So, bandwidth is, how manypeople can be on your site, and how fast that's going to load, and storage is, how manyphotos, how many videos, how big you can make your site. 

We're not really worriedabout the storage, because we're only making aone-page simple business site, but we are definitely worriedabout the bandwidth. So, on this low plan,the combo, for $13 a month, you get 2 gigabytes of bandwidth.So, you are limited. It's not going toload all that fast. Now, just for an extra $4 a month,you go to the unlimited plan, and it gives you unlimited bandwidth. So, it's gonna mean, you can havea lot more people on your site. It's gonna load a lot faster. Google is gonna like that. So, they're gonna rankyou a lot higher. So, I think, absolutely gowith the unlimited at least, I would shy away from the combo, but you don't need togo all the way to the pro. Again, we're notbuilding a massive site, so, we don't need 20gigabytes of storage here. So, you can select that, and you can roll month-to-month, annually, or if you pay for a coupleyears upfront, it's like super cheap, they keep dropping the price. But once you do that, you'll beable to connect a website name, so, you can actually make itwhatever your business is, dot com. 

It'll go directly to your website,and there will be no advertisements. So, you won'thave this up here, and this will be your business name.Everything will be perfect. So, as promised, I'm going to showyou how to show up in Google, Yahoo, all those things really easily, and a lot of peopleskip right over this. So, once you've made your wholesite, you're not exactly done. you've got to do this first.So, come to 'settings,' and then go to 'my dashboard,' andfrom here, go to marketing tools, and then, get found on Google, and this is the Wix SEO Wiz. So, it walks you througheverything for your SEO, which is short for SearchEngine Optimization. So, Google, Yahoo, Bing,those are all search engines. So, you're optimizing yourwebsite to show up in those, for what you want to showup for, So, for your city, for whatever kind of region you have,and what kind of service you offer. So, all you got todo is hit 'start now' here, then, it asks you a bunchof different questions, and then, it uses that informationto rank you on Google. So, don't forget that step at the end.It is so important.
